ST. JOSEPH, MI: The last day of school for Lake Michigan Catholic is Friday, May 29, but LMC administrators already have their sights set on success for next school year. The school is seeing high re-enrollment levels and increased interest from new families, thanks to LMC’s successful transition to online learning and recent additions to the curriculum.
“I’ve had several new families call to say they hear really positive things about our school,” says Nadia Bucholtz, LMC Director of Admissions. “The community is aware of how our compassionate, dedicated teachers are seamlessly managing distance learning. People are excited about the innovative curriculum we’re implementing, and it’s translating into increased interest in joining the LMC family.”
LMC’s re-enrollment for the 2020-21 school year is pacing far ahead of previous years, with current families indicating their intent to continue their students’ education with LMC well in advance of re-enrollment deadlines. New student interest is up as well, and Lake Michigan Catholic administration will work with new families throughout the summer to ensure they have a smooth transition in the fall.
“Families have been responding positively to our initiatives,” says LMC Middle/High School Principal James White. “They have faith in the direction we’re moving, and see LMC as a leader in vision and programming. They also appreciate that we are flexible, adaptable and innovative, with new teaching strategies and programs.”
For the upcoming year, LMC Middle/High School is launching a new global studies program with academic pathways that focus on global business, global studies and foreign language. Anchored in the Sam and Connie Monte Global Trading and Finance Lab, the global business pathway offers eight new international business classes. The existing STREAM (science, technology, religion, engineering, art and mathematics) lab will be a hub for multidisciplinary global learning, and LMC plans to expand experiences like international service trips, cultural immersion experiences and semester study abroad, pending safe conditions for students and staff.
Financial support for LMC is also on the rise, from an exceptionally successful annual giving campaign and the individual gift that launched the Monte Lab to the generous matching gifts that spurred LMC’s current challenge campaign, “40 Days for Catholic Education.”
“Momentum in one area creates positive movement in other areas,” says Bucholtz. “Visionary curriculum encourages donor support, which brings those visions to life. As we move forward with new initiatives, excitement builds and enrollment follows. It’s all connected, and it’s an exciting time to be a Laker.”
