Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School has filled the school’s first director of development position. Mark Libs, a professional with more than 12 years of development experience, has been selected for the role.
"I want to thank Father John Fleckenstein as well as the Lake Michigan Catholic School Fund for this amazing opportunity. I am excited to move back to St. Joseph and join the team at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. I will use my position to strengthen our school while working to ensure the sustainability of Catholic school education in our area," shares Libs.
A Catholic school graduate with local ties, Libs attended Troy University in Alabama where he earned his Bachelor of Science in sports fitness management and a minor in business. He began his career as assistant development director for Kent State University’s Golden Flashes Club before leading athletics development initiatives at Bowling Green State University, Appalachian State University and Ashland University.
“I was charged with implementing direct mail, crowdfunding and stewardship programs, assisting with telethons, and developing sponsorship programs for events to strengthen donor relations and increase revenue,” says Libs.
The Lake Michigan Catholic School Fund has committed to funding the position for its first three years, according to an agreement signed by LMCSF President John Proos and Canonical Pastor Fr. John D. Fleckenstein.
“Mark has remarkable depth of experience building donor bases, developing programs and ensuring retention goals; he’s developed that essential pipeline of new donors and located major gift prospects,” explains Fr. Fleckenstein. “Our vision is to build on our existing foundation of donor support. This role fortifies our commitment to quality, accessible Catholic school education for years to come. It will also and deepen our impact within the community.”
